| Overview of Telheiro |
Its lines of houses extend to the agricultural area of regularly patterned small farms, where oak woodland and olive groves co-exist with small wheat-fields and pastures for sheep and cattle. On the road to Reguengos begin the vineyards of the council area, which produces the most wine in the Alentejo.

| Houses in Telheiro |
Certainly for the enchantment of its ancient land, but also for the proximity of the River Guadiana, which is transformed into a large lake because of the Alqueva dam, here are found important remains of megalithic culture: the Cromlech (enclosure) of Xerex, the Menhirs (standing stones) of Outeiro and Bulhôa, as well as the Antas (passage graves) of Olival da Pega, places which can be visited on foot or by mountain bike. But it is not necessary to leave the village to find things of interest as far as heritage is concerned, such as the fountain (18th century), the public wash-houses with stone slabs of schist, the ancient olive press, now used as a café and restaurant, or the restored convent of Orada, with its museum nucleus. The traditional making of blankets and work in basketry and cork are complemented by the potteries of S. Pedro do Corval.

The climb up to Monsaraz is inevitable. There, its collection of monuments brings together the Mediaeval and seventeenth century walls, the chapel of S. João Baptista (11th–12th centuries), the cistern (14th century), the fresco in the former law courts (15th century), the parish church (16th–18th centuries).
